Professional Development Blog

This is my professional development blog which is where I do a weekly blog about the things that I have learnt during that week, how I found it useful and what I would like to do more to improve my skills. I started this at the beginning of the course in September where I was learning lots of different information, this was before I started the assignments, so I have written briefly what I have learnt so far on the course.

So far in this course I have learnt about Robert Zemeckis and how he became successful. I learnt how to use the Premiere Pro software to edit clips together. I learnt about the different types of shots you can take and the different video movements. Also I learnt about the exposure triangle and practised using the camera on different settings. We practised setting up the different equipment, and using it correctly. I would like to learn how to use Premiere pro in more detail, and learn how to put special effects on clips. My ideal job would to be a video editor as I enjoy learning about different editing softwares.

At the beginning of November I started my weekly blog as this is when we were set our assignments, and I was learning lots of skills each week.

Week of the 6th November- I did a swot analysis on some of the different carbon copy clips that I might want to replicate and I learnt how to make a detailed swot analysis which is very useful for the upcoming projects.

Week of the 13th- This week I learnt what Primary and Secondary research is and what is best to use in different circumstances. I learnt the definition of qualitative and quantitative and when to use them both.

Week of the 20th- This week I was editing my carbon copy and I learnt some of the effects that are on premiere pro, and used them in my video.

Week of the 27th- This week I have learnt about banned adverts and the guidelines companies have to follow to make sure that it doesn't offend anyone. I learnt about what happens to ban a advert and the process that has to happen.

Week of the 4th December- This week we had an interesting lecture with a professional about the process to go down when we want to go to university and what we should do to make sure that we go to the right university for us.

Week of the 11th- This week I did my overall evaluation where I recognised the good parts of my work and also the parts that I need to improve on. I also

reflected on peer assessments which was useful to me to see what other people think of my work, and I can now make sure that take the information on board.

Week of the 2nd January- This week I learnt the basic skills of adobe after effects and have been able to make some simple animations.

Week of the 8th- This week I learnt lots of different definitions about camera angles and shots e.g- 180 degree rule. I also learnt about augmented reality and virtual reality and understanding what the difference is between them.

Week of the 15th- This week I learnt how to use photoshop and learnt more things about after effects. I learnt how to use both of them together to then be able to animate different words and logos.

Week of the 22nd- This week I learnt about Blippar and Hp reveal and learnt how they work and I created basic blipps so that I understood the apps more

Week of the 29th- This week I started to plan my own final Blipp so I did lots of research on Blipp and the different blipps out there. By doing this I found it useful as it gave me ideas and inspiration for my own project.

Week of the 12th February- This week I was planning for my visual narrative so I had to do primary and secondary research where I learnt lots about PTSD and learnt more about the context of the poem 'remains'

Week of the 19th- This week I have learnt how to briefly use Adobe Audition and I learnt about sound effects including Foley. I would like to develop my skills on audition a lot more so that I can develop my skills and be able to use complex effects on my work.

Week of the 25th- This week I had a lecture about university that I found very interesting and it helped to have a clearer idea of the different opportunities I have once I have finished college and I was able to learn things about university that I didn't know before.

Week of the 5th March- This week I have learnt how to use a sound recorder which I will like to have practice on so that I become more familiar with it and am able to use it confidently.

Week of the 12th- This week using the sounds I made I edited them on Premiere pro over the short film that we were given. I want to become more familiar with Adobe audition so that I could use it to edit my sounds more.

Week of the 19th- This week I filmed my visual narrative for remains, I have learnt from this that I need to make sure that I have enough film to edit down, as I struggled to make it long enough. I learnt a lot about the history of animation of sound which I found very interested and would like to look into this more in the future.

Week of the 26th- I finished editing my visual narrative and have learnt that during my planning that I need to make sure that I know how long I need to make each of the clips so that I know that it will be long enough.

Week of the 16th April- I started on my FMP where I started by creating a mood board on metamorphosis, completing a rationale, thinking of some initial ideas and then choosing my final idea.
