Charity Event
Potential charities (in order of preference)
-
dementia UK- I would like to support dementia UK because a close family member of mine used to have this illness and I think it is important to try and raise money to help the people who have this and to do more research about this illness.
-
RSPCA- I would like to support the RSPCA because I have a passion for animals and I think that it is cruel the way some animals are treated and I would like to raise money so that more animals are able to be saved and kept in a better environment
-
Great Ormond street hospital charity- I think that this is a very good charity because they are helping young children from all over the world and the money they get can go towards research for cures, pay for machines, the buildings, toys for the children
-
Epilepsy research UK- My friend has epilepsy so I feel passionate to support them to raise money to try and find a cure for this condition
-
Porchlight- it is a charity to help the homeless and people who are struggling with life and pressures

Event Ideas
I would like to do either a sponsored run or a cake sale, but more likely the cake sale as it is easier to organise and I think that more people will donate rather than a sponsored run. The target audience is going to be teenagers and young adults who are at college because that is where the event will be held. The event will be aimed at college students rather then a general fundraiser because I think the most amount of money will be raised around the college campus.

Cake Sale
S- Lots of people will want to buy cakes, and are willing to pay a bit more because it is going to charity, there are lots of people in a small area so it will be easy to sell lots of cakes
W- Lots of cakes will have to be made which will take a lot of time and money because of the high quantity that will be sold
O- Because it is a college lots of people will have change
T- If they are not sold then there will be a lot of cakes wasted as well as not a lot of money raised making it quite risky
At college there are lots of places to get food so people might rather get better quality food from there

Sponsored Run
S- It won't cost any money to organise as it is a run, therefore all the money raised will go straight towards the charity
W-Not many people will be interested in donating to someone to do a run as it isn't very entertaining, and it will take a long time to get prepared as you will have to do practises. Not many people are going to want to watch someone run also as its not very interesting.
O- There is lots of areas to run as there is field next to the college which is a good wide open space to run.
T- It is very dependant on the weather because if it is raining then it could be a hazard and people are less likely to come and watch
Chosen Charity
My chosen charity that I want to represent is dementia UK because I think that it is important that the people that have dementia are able to get the support they need. It helps the people that are caring for their loved ones and gives them one-to-one help that they need. The money donated pays for helplines, information guides and one-to-one support. A member of my family had this illness which is why I think that it is important to donate money towards this charity. Many people wouldn't choose this as a charity because there isn't a cure for it but instead the money goes towards the family who have to look after the person in the family with the illness.

I have decided to choose this charity rather than the others because this one is very personal as it has happened in our family which is why I want to support it. Also because the charity that I have chosen isn't as popular as one like the RSPCA. I think that the other charities on my list are still important to donate money towards but for me personally I would like to donate the money gathered from this event to Dementia UK.

I have decided to go for a cake sale because from the SWOT analysis it shows that it will be the most successful as it will get the most amount of money.

Evaluation
On Monday 23rd we did our cake sale, everyone either made or bought cakes and in the end we had over 50 cakes. We went outside reception to set up the cake sale but weren't getting any customers, so we went and did it in the canteen. We were there for 2 hours and sold a few cakes, we raised about £17 which we are going to send of. If we were to do it we would do it at a better time so that there would be more people around. We promoted it well as we put up lots of posters but still didn't get as many as we wanted.
Stretch and Challenge- Augmented Reality
Augmented reality is when you use devices to see computer-generated objects in the real environment. An example of this is pokemon go as you use your camera on the app and are able to see different computer objects that appear to be in real life as it enhances your current perception of reality. You are also able to use this on products, and if you scan them then it appears that different information is coming out of the product. At first augmented reality was just used in entertainment and game businesses but now it is becoming more popular in everyday life and now it is used by many people to entertain, educate and knowledge sharing. AR can be used in the industry to also manage the information flood and organising distant meetings.
Article about interactive media
Interactive media is where the user decides on the input which decides on how the output will turn out. Websites and video games are common types of interactive media. Video games for example have controllers which the user decides how they use it which is the input and the output is the thing on the screen doing what it has been programmed to do by the user. Social networking websites have graphics and text which allows the users to share photos and chat with friends which means that the user can choose what they want to happen and because it is computer programmed it will happen. This means that the users are able to choose the input which in turn affects the output. Other types of interactive media includes, text, moving image, animation, video, and audio.
