Self-Portrait research
Self portraits have been around for a very long time it wasn't until the mid 15th century that artists had the main focus of the photo. Mirrors became cheaper and better during this time which meant that there was a greater focus on self portraits.
An example of a self portraiture is Claude Cahun who became famous after her death in the 1980's. In all of her photos she changes into different characters and wanted to focus on different identities, gender and sexualities.
Vivian Majer was a another photographer who took over 15,000 photos. Her self portrait work was focused of taking photos in front of a mirror all with different backgrounds and surroundings.
Vincent van gogh drew and painted himself more than 43 times between 1886 and 1889 the paintings varied in colour and intensity. His self portraits are always of himself sitting slanted rather than a face on portrait. Whereas Vincent van gogh had a realistic self portrait a painter called Egon Schiele took was a painter who painted self portraits with twisted body shapes.
